Hebridean Crofthouses is the trading name of Hebridean Properties, a small company based in the Western Isles, Scotland, specialising in the design and building of modern energy-efficient homes with exteriors very closely based upon the classic traditional croft houses of the West Coast of Scotland.

Run by Mark Miller Mundy, in conjunction with the experienced house-builder Duncan Maxwell of The Harris Building Co., Hebridean Crofthouses will design and adapt an interior layout to suit a client’s individual requirements. They will also fit out the key individual elements of the interior, such as kitchen and bathroom etc, to suit personal tastes. However the company also believes that one of the major considerations when building a new house should not just be its interior, but also on how its exterior sits within its surrounding landscape*.  

While beauty clearly is in the eye of a beholder, one has only to glance at some of the modern houses that have been built on the West Coast of Scotland over the last decade or so to see that their designers have been more interested in their interiors without considering how they might sit within their immediate setting.

The type of homes being designed and built by Hebridean Crofthouses not only offer all the conveniences of modern living, they also combine this with a classic or vernacular Scottish exterior whose traditional lines and finish ensure that the completed house blends seemlessly with the type of landscapes found throughout the West Coast of Scotland. 

All building work is carried out to a high standard by quaified personnel. If for any reason, a client finds it difficult to make regular site visits, Hebridean Crofthouses is happy to supply them with a list of independent surveyors whose role would be to monitor work in progress on their behalf. 

* This is especially true when a home is also to be used for self-catering holiday-lets.
